"Building Hope"

I'm just starting to blog now and everything is still a bit new to me. As my journey continues at the Ebenezer Hannah Home, i am faces with many challenges, and sometimes finds it difficult to go on, at the same time i know that giving up is not an option. The only thing that keeps me going is my faith in God and the beautiful children at the Home. To see them happy is an absolute joy.

Over the Easter Weekend we had people from all over the world at the Ebenzer Hannah Home to work on a Housing Project, together with Amor Ministries, Urban Saints, Radio Rainbow FC. The main focus was to build five houses in five days; at the same time give Hope to our people of having a house for the very first time in their lives.

Amor Ministries was found by Scott Congdon (who came on this year's project) in 1980, with the aim to show love in a practical and tangible way to the 40% of Mexicans who live below the poverty line. For the last 25 years, through the simple ministry of building homes for the underprivileged, Amor has engaged 7,000 churches and 270,000 volunteers in building 13,500 homes in Mexico. Through loving their neighbours in this down-to-earth way, Amor aims to bring the Gospel to where the people are at, rather than preaching at them from a pulpit.

In 2008, Scott got called to expand the ministry to South Africa , in partnership with Urban Saints which led to about 70 UK young people coming to South Africa to build houses. The project was originally planned to take place in Kimberley but the local authority pulled the plug. Bill Hebner (from Urban Saints) called Humphrey Birkenstock, CEO from Rainbow Radio 90.7 FM, who had accompanied him on a previous Amor housing project in Mexico. Humphrey began the relationship between Amor, Urban Saints and Ebenezer. The need that Pastor Tommy was in was for housing. Scott and Bill decided to bless the Care Centre through moving the housing project here.

We at the Hannah Home are grateful for these homes, and thank God for without Him in our lives this could not be possible. Not only will they have a house, but also a home!

“Make a joyful noise unto the Lord, all ye lands.Serve the Lord with gladness: come before his presence with singing.Know ye that the Lord he is God: it is he that hath made us,and not we ourselves; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise:be thankful unto him, and bless his name. For the Lord is good; his mercy is everlasting;and his truth endureth to all generations.”— Psalms 100.1-5
